ABSTRACT

We have added the Discrete Dynamical Systems component to our Modeling with college algebra courses. Additionally, we teach it as an elective as part of a Bridges grant between our university and the technical colleges to attract interested science students to come to the four-year college to complete a BS degree. Topics include: modeling with affine DDS through systems of DDS (mortgage models, credit card models, drug dosage models, spotted owl model, competitive hunter model) using the TI-83+ or TI-84 calculator. Handouts will be provided on models and calculator usage. We discuss equilibrium and stability of the DDS.
