ABSTRACT

The National Science Foundation sponsored a Calculus Using Computer Algebra Systems institute at Northern Kentucky University during the past two summers. For two weeks during May of 1993, 38 participants from two-year and four-year colleges from Kentucky and 19 other states were introduced to the symbolic computation systems DERIVE and Mathematica as well as to the non-CAS software CONVERGE and Gyrographics. At the end of the two weeks, all participants were using the software and writing laboratory projects. During the 1993-1994 school year, participants taught calculus at their own schools and developed projects, using various computer algebra systems, for their students. For one week during May of 1994, participants returned to NKU to discuss their efforts and to exchange ideas. During this poster session we will exchange ideas with visitors and distribute copies of a collection of 130 calculus projects developed by the Institute participants.
