ABSTRACT

The author has used Maple in teaching calculus and other introductory courses in the last five years. Selected examples of weekly lab exercises and projects will be discussed. These include a complete analysis of the number of trailing zeros in n! and devising an algorithm for calculating this number, use of Maple's plotting routines to draw interesting graphs, and a discussion of pattern recognition and discovery of formulas using computer algebra systems.
