Computer-based Instruction Initiative
at ODU Department of Mathematics and Statistics
Our Department is committed to creating a technology-rich environment
to support and enhance mathematics and statistics instruction.
The Computer-based Calculus
project, originated in 1991, was funded by the Virginia State Council
for Higher Education under a Funds for Excellence grant.
Numerous computer laboratories and activities were developed for
our freshman calculus sequence. Electronic classrooms were also
created, in which both instructional and laboratory activities take place.
Calculus-related resources available on-line include:
The Department also began offering other courses with computer-activities
in the areas of linear algebra and
numerical methods (MATH 408/508), with more courses
anticipated in the near future. (See the Visual
Demonstrations of Numerical Methods
