Students at Monash University in first year calculus have continually
experienced difficulties in recognising the difference between a sequence
and a series. The Texas TI 92 was used to assist students' in being able
to recognise these differences as well as being able to investigate the
convergence of a sequence and of a series using the graphic and symbolic
properties of the calculator. The results presented in the paper
demonstrate the potential for the Texas TI 92 to improve student
performance in this area.
