ABSTRACT

Many students enter a Mathematics for Elementary Teachers course with the ability to perform standard mathematical procedures but lack an understanding of the concepts underlying these procedures. This paper provides background information about the 2-year/4-year college collaboration and a sample of activities for pre-service teachers.
